Golf Québec is celebrating another prestigious honour, as Diane Barabé, a leading figure in the rules of golf and current President of the Eastern Townships Regional Golf Association, was inducted into the Temple de la renommée sportive de la Mauricie during its 45th induction ceremony held on October 17, in Shawinigan.

Originally from La Tuque, Diane Barabé has dedicated much of her life to the growth and promotion of golf in Québec, across Canada, and on the international stage. Beginning in the early 1990s, she became actively involved in the organization and administration of amateur golf before establishing herself as a respected authority in the highly specialized field of golf rules. Through her professionalism, sound judgment, and leadership, she earned international-level certification and worked alongside the sport’s most influential governing bodies, including the R&A and the USGA.

In 2014, she became the first woman from Québec to serve as a Rules Official at the RBC Canadian Open. Three years later, she made history once again by becoming the first Canadian woman to officiate at the prestigious Masters Tournament in Augusta. Over the years, she has also officiated at several major championships, including U.S. and British Opens, as well as numerous international amateur events.

Beyond her accomplishments on the golf course, Diane Barabé is, above all, a mentor and a true builder of the game. For many years, she helped train generations of Canadian officials by teaching at national rules seminars. Her dedication earned her recognition as Golf Québec’s and Golf Canada’s Volunteer of the Year, as well as the prestigious Pierre-Nadon Prize for her exceptional contribution to the development of golf in Québec.

This induction in the Temple de la renommée sportive de la Mauricie crowns an extraordinary career defined by excellence and an unwavering commitment to the sport. Our entire golf community joins in celebrating this well-deserved recognition and extends its warmest congratulations to Diane Barabé on an honour that serves as a fitting tribute to a lifetime of exemplary service to the game of golf.
