Émile Lebrun Retains His Provincial Amateur Title

Émile LebrunÉmile Lebrun Defends His Title and Finishes 16 Under Par

Montréal, July 17, 2026 – A spectacular performance saw Émile Lebrun successfully defend his title at the Men’s Provincial Amateur Championship on Wednesday at Club de Golf St-Georges. No fewer than 142 golfers were in action from July 13 to 16, for this 109th edition, presented in collaboration with belairdirect.

The player from the Club Laval-sur-le-Lac finished the competition with an impressive total of -16 (272) to lift the Outremont Trophy for the second year running. He finished ahead of Thomas Grenier, of Thetford Golf and Curling Club, who came second on -14 (274), and Jean-Philippe Parr (Ki-8-Eb), who finished third on -13 (275).

“It’s been a year since I won the Provincial Amateur Championship and I haven’t won any other tournaments since then. It was a big challenge for me; it has been on the calendar for about two months. I was looking forward to this tournament, and my goal was simply to win it – I didn’t want to finish second,” said Émile Lebrun after receiving his trophy.

Tied for 16th place after a first round played in the rain, Lebrun climbed the leaderboard the following day by carding his best round of the week, a 63 (-9), despite two delays caused by thunderstorms. These weather conditions also disrupted the schedule for the third round, during which the course was made entirely available to the competitors to make up for the delay from the previous day.

Émile Lebrun then took the lead at the end of the third round, which he finished at -6, before shooting par on Wednesday with a round of 72.

“With a wet grip, it wasn’t easy in the rain. I was in survival mode, I’d say! I managed to play well enough to give myself a chance for the last three days. Then I gained confidence with my putts, and that helped a lot for the rest of the week,” said the winner.

Golf Québec would like to thank Club de Golf St-Georges for its invaluable cooperation throughout the week, despite the difficult conditions.

The Action Shifts to the Canadian Championship
This was the third and final leg of the Triple Crown, comprising the Alexander of Tunis, the Duke of Kent, and the Men’s Provincial Amateur Championship.

This tournament served to select the members of the Québec team for the Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship. Jean-Philippe Parr (Ki-8-Eb), Guillaume Paquette (Public Golfer Program) and Éloik Bertrand (Pinegrove Country Club) will represent Golf Québec from July 27 to 30, at the Mickelson National Golf Club and the Heritage Pointe Golf Club (co-host) in Calgary, Alberta.

The Golf Québec staff is now preparing for the Bantam, Pee-Wee, and Mosquito Championship, which will take place from July 20 to 21.
