Antoine Jasmin Puts in a Historic Performance at the Duke of Kent

Champions of the Duke Of KentWilliam Forgues retains the André Gagné Trophy

Montréal, July 2, 2026 – The prestigious Duke of Kent tournament, presented in collaboration with belairdirect at Club de golf Royal Québec on June 29 and 30, provided a memorable spectacle as Antoine Jasmin (Le Blainvillier) put in a historic performance to claim top honours at this 92nd edition.

As the first leg of Golf Québec’s Men’s Triple Crown, the event was marked by an impressive display from Jasmin, who finished the two rounds with a total of 134 strokes (-10).

His second round of 60 (-12) set a new record at the Duke of Kent as well as on the Royal Course, previously held by André Gagné and Michel Taché. His total of 134 strokes also equalled the best result in the tournament’s history, set by Mathieu Perron in 2013.

As well as writing his name into the tournament’s history books, Antoine Jasmin received the traditional plaid jacket, an iconic symbol presented annually to the competition’s champion.

“For me, winning the Duke of Kent is much more than just a victory. I matched the tournament record with a total of 134 strokes, whilst beating the course record by three strokes. I’m really proud of what I’ve achieved. It shows that hard work eventually pays off,” said Jasmin, who has big plans for the 2026 season.

“I’m also very optimistic about what lies ahead. My aim is to build on this momentum at the Alexander of Tunis tournament next week, achieve a good result and qualify for the Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship. I hope to go into it feeling confident and continue to play some good rounds,” concluded the Duke of Kent champion.

Behind him, Guillaume Paquette (public golfer) and Émile Lebrun (Club Laval-sur-le-Lac) finished tied for second place at -7 (137).

William Forgues retains the André Gagné Trophy

The André Gagné Trophy, awarded to the best golfer from the Québec City region, remained in the hands of William Forgues (Royal Québec), who successfully defended his title with a total score of 141 (-3).

“Winning the André Gagné Trophy for a second year running means a great deal to me. André Gagné is a true legend at Club de golf Royal Québec. He won the Duke of Kent on several occasions and made his mark on the history of golf in the Québec City region,” said Forgues at the end of his second round.

“I’m lucky enough to know André (Gagné) well, so receiving a trophy bearing his name, once again, is a source of great pride. I’m really pleased with my performance today.”

A total of 138 golfers took part in this 92nd edition of the Duke of Kent, the results of which will count towards the Triple Crown Order of Merit with a view to qualifying for the Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship and selecting the team that will represent Golf Québec in the inter-provincial amateur competition.

Golf Québec would like to extend its warmest thanks to Club de golf Royal Québec for its hospitality and excellent cooperation in staging an event that has, once again, been a great success.

Attention now turns to the second stage of the Men’s Triple Crown, the Alexandre de Tunis, which will take place on July 6 and 7, at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club. In addition, the Provincial Junior Championship will bring together girls and boys aged 13 to 18 at Club de golf Lac-Saint-Jean from July 6 to 9.
