Montréal, June 29, 2026 – Justine Emond (Le Blainvillier) and Sarah-Maude Martel (Public Golfer Program) needed a play-off on Sunday to decide the winner of the amateur competition at the Debbie Savoy Morel Cup, presented in collaboration with belairdirect, at Golf Le Mirage.

Emond, provisionally second after the first day’s play, ultimately got the better of Martel. She secured her first career victory at the Debbie Savoy Morel Cup, a competition included in the Jocelyne Bourassa Series, which serves to identify Québec’s women’s amateur and senior teams ahead of the Canadian championships.

After shooting par on her first nine holes, she also carded a birdie on the final hole of the first day. Emond showed great consistency the following day to draw level with Martel at the top of the leaderboard on +2 (73), before clinching victory in a play-off.

Kate Guo (Pinegrove/Québec team) and Mackenzie Cloutier (Elm Ridge Country Club) both finished the tournament at +3 (74), in joint third place. Cloutier had, in fact, been provisionally in first place after the first day, on -1 (34).

In the seniors’ division, Suzanne Ricard (Royal Montreal), the 2024 senior champion and Senior Golfer of the Year in 2023 and 2025, claimed victory on Sunday at Golf Le Mirage.

Ricard carded a 38 (+2) on the front nine, which already gave her a comfortable lead. She held off an incredible charge from Julie Guillote (Le Diamant), who climbed six places to finish the competition second at +10 (81), just one stroke behind the winner.

Monique Bérard (Les Dunes) rounded off the top-3 at +13 (84).

Marie-Pier Desroches (Montcalm) won the Stableford competition in the amateur category with 36 points, just one point ahead of her nearest rival, Karen Baker, from Club de Golf de l’Île de Montréal. Robyn Benwell (Belœil) took the honours in the seniors’ event of the Stableford contest.

The Duke of Kent, the first stage of the Men’s Triple Crown, will be the next event on Golf Québec’s calendar. It will take place on June 29 and 30, at Club de golf Royal Québec.
