Golf Québec Launches New Provincial Team
23 athletes will make up the first edition of the Québec team
Montréal, May 15, 2023 – Twenty-three athletes at the Espoir, Relève, and Élite levels were appointed to the Québec team for the upcoming season, a first for the province this year. Golf Québec launched its roster last Saturday at the Maison du Loisir et du Sport in Montréal.
The athletes were selected based on their results from last season, but also because of their commitment and desire to invest in their sport development. The Québec team program will allow them to benefit from various services and constant support throughout the upcoming season.
Last November, a sports medicine assessment camp was organized to allow athletes to obtain services that go beyond traditional golf training. They were able to learn more about physical preparation, injury prevention, and nutrition.
"In an individual sport, it will be fun to have a feeling of belonging to a team, we don't get to see that very often. It will also be an incredible opportunity to practice with the best in the province and it will be a great experience," said Anne-Léa Lavoie.
"It's really fun, I'm really happy! We are a great gang and it's nice to have something that brings us all together. We don't all come from the same region, I have friends on the team who come from Québec City or the Saguenay area, this will allow us to get closer, that's for sure," added Justin Grimard.
The golfers on the roster agree that the support of the Québec team will make it easier for them to achieve the goals they have set for themselves in the short and medium term.
"With better training, we will definitely be stronger physically, and if we add to that the mental trainer and the physiotherapists, we are really winning," Samuel Breton-Gagnon noted.
We are offered many opportunities, and this will certainly help me improve my game," continued Alicia Hénault. We have a lot of tools that are offered to us, and we are already seeing some benefits. For the next season, I want the quality of my training to be reflected in the competitions, being part of the Québec team will certainly help me in that regard.
"It will help me mentally and physically to take my game to the next level. I'm sure I'll be able to improve as an athlete," shared Mackenzie Cloutier.

Daniel Langevin, Head Coach of the Provincial Golf-études program, was also very enthusiastic about the creation of this team which, according to him, will be extremely beneficial to the development of these players.
"This is a need that has just been filled. The athletes will be well supervised and will be able to progress within this program. They will benefit from an incredible support, they are already good athletes and they will have great opportunities to develop further," he commented.
Fred Colgan will be the Head Coach of the Québec team and will work closely with each athlete's personal coach throughout the season to provide the best possible follow-up.
