Roch Couture is the 2021 Volunteer of the Year

Roch Couture

The Québec Golf Federation (Golf Québec) is celebrating the International Volunteer Day
by honouring Roch Couture as its 2021 Volunteer of the Year.

Montréal, December 5, 2021 – In 1998, Roch Couture joined the Québec Golf Association (QGA) as an administrator at the provincial level. Over the years, he witnessed the mergers that gave shape to Golf Québec as we know it today and was instrumental in structuring the various levels of the Junior Development Tour.

A member of the Glendale Golf Club, Roch devoted many years to encouraging the Montréal area youth to discover our sport and adopt it for life. This was no secret to him as he had already successfully passed on his passion to his son Eric who played on the PGA Tour of Canada before joining the Golf Québec team as Director of Competitions.

For twenty years, Roch was the Director of Junior Tournaments for the Montréal Regional Association's North Section. In doing so, he allowed thousands of young players to shine in a high-level competitive tour that propelled them on their development path towards excellence. He also served on the Golf Québec Rules Committee from 2019 to 2021.

This fall, Roch passed the torch to Guy Bernard as the Junior Tournament Chair for the Montréal Regional Association - North Section. They are already collaborating to ensure a smooth transition of activities for our young athletes in 2022. In addition, we will still have the opportunity to see him again on the Québec courses during the next golf season, as we will be delighted to have him as one of our referees and volunteers in our championships.

In appreciation of all the years that he has devoted so generously to the development of junior golf and advancement of our sport, a plaque will be presented to Roch at the Annual General Meeting of Golf Québec to be held on February 28, 2022.
