Montréal, Québec – June 9, 2021 – Although Golf Québec, the ECPT, and Golf Château-Bromont had already made all the necessary verification this winter to avoid potential scheduling conflicts, we must admit that things do not always go as planned. Following the recent announcement that the PGA Championship of Canada will be held at Le Vieux-Village from August 3 to 7, 2021, we took the initiative to modify our calendar to provide our players with the opportunity to participate in both events without restrictions.
As a result, Golf Québec, the ECPT, and Golf Château-Bromont are proud to announce that the Bromont Invitational presented by Subaru and Soonma in collaboration with belairdirect will now take place from September 6 to 9, 2021. This tournament, the only one of its kind in Canada, offers both male and female professional and amateur golfers the opportunity to capture the precious trophy. The event will bring together 156 players to compete for their share of the overall $60,000 purse if they are professional golfers.
"Our mission with the Bromont Invitational is to offer a high-level tournament primarily to Québec players," said Martin Ducharme, General Manager of Golf Château-Bromont. "As host of the event, I want to make sure that the best players are available to participate, which was no longer possible with the conflicting schedules of the two tournaments. That's why it was crucial for us to change our dates."
Located in the Eastern Townships, in an enchanting environment at the bottom of Mont Brome, Golf Château-Bromont is an 18-hole golf and vacation resort. Surrounded by a spectacular natural setting, the course features an excellent challenge for all types of golfers, including the best professional and amateur players who had the opportunity to visit the facility in numerous Canadian and Québec tournaments over the years. In 2021, the club will host no less than three major Canadian and Québec competitions, including the Bromont Invitation.
"Scheduling events is a very complex task, to start with, and during a pandemic when competitions are planned and postponed by many organizations, it is difficult to avoid conflicts," said Eric Couture, Competition Director of Golf Québec. "However, we remain true to our federated mission and want to ensure that our players have every opportunity to participate in our tournaments. It was only logical for us to adapt to the situation and prevent that these two major events would be conflicting in Québec. The players of the PGA Championship of Canada want to participate in the Bromont Invitational. In turn, we want to host them," he added.
Last Saturday, a communication was made to announce the new partnership between the ECPT and Golf Québec for the Bromont Invitational. This alliance will make it possible to offer a larger purse to the professional players who will participate in the tournament.
"In the best interest of all players, we want to provide them with as many development opportunities as possible. We must acknowledge the incredible work achieved by Martin Ducharme without whom this change of date would not be possible," said Massimo Roch, ECPT Tournament Director. "The summer just got even more exciting for the elite golfers of the province! We have always been a tour presented by players, for players. We only want the best for our participants, and hope that this move demonstrates our good intentions. "
The registration period for the Bromont Invitational presented by Subaru and Soonma in collaboration with belairdirect will begin this Friday, June 11. We look forward to seeing you on the course.
