Pierre Dugas and Roger Lauzon, pioneers and leaders
Recipients of the Pierre-Nadon Prize
Pierre-Nadon Prize and past recipients
Montréal, February 26, 2019 – This year, the Pierre-Nadon Prize is not awarded to only one, but two deserving recipients who will be honoured by Golf Québec. The selection committee is comprised of past colleagues of the late reporter to present this homage to a person or a corporation that contributed in an exceptional way to the development and promotion of golf.

As last year was especially fruitful in terms of golf performances, it became obvious that the legacy of competent coaches should be recognized. With this in mind, it was decided to honour both Pierre Dugas and Roger Lauzon for their career achievements.
Both of them have been members of the PGA of Québec, level-3 certified of Canadian sports, Physical Education teachers and, most of all, passionate golf players.
“There is no doubt that, to aim for athletic excellence, we must start with the ability to teach. As the province of Québec is witnessing a bountiful period in terms of competitive performances and the number of golfers who are appointed to the Team Canada program, we must commend the contribution made by our coaches,” highlights Jean-Pierre Beaulieu, Executive Director of Golf Québec.
Role models
This double selection of Pierre Dugas-Roger Lauzon is a first in over ten years since the Pierre-Nadon Prize was created. Past recipients including Jocelyne Bourassa, Dan Halldorson, Dave Ross, Denis Messier, Diane Barabé, Roger H. Legault, and many others exemplify the vast outreach of this recognition program.
Leading coach supervising Hugo Bernard and Joey Savoie as well as the Carabins golf team on top of managing golf lessons at Club Laval-sur-le-Lac, Daniel Langevin applauds this double celebration.
“Pierre and Roger are pioneers and respected leaders in our field of expertise. Thanks to their outstanding contribution, modern coaches can enjoy the best working conditions,” explained Langevin.
“Both of them have been mentors to many. Circumstances brought me to work closely with Pierre who was a consultant for the Carabins. I also had the opportunity to meet with Roger in provincial events. They were always very generous and glad to share their knowledge and expertise,” he added.
“Pierre and Roger helped us broaden our horizons by encouraging us to try, get involved, and push our limits. I definitely owe part of my success to them and I will be eternally grateful,” concluded Langevin in a heartfelt tribute.
The idea of honouring the hard work accomplished within the teaching profession was brought up by Denis Messier, Reporter at the Sherbrooke Tribune.
Honoured at the Annual General Meeting
Pierre Dugas, who is still working at the Cowansville Golf Club, and Roger Lauzon, who remains available to lend a helping hand even if he has retired, will be honoured next Saturday (on March 2), at the Golf Québec Annual General Meeting that will be held just before the Golf Canada AGM. This celebration will take place at Montréal Airport Marriott In-Terminal Hotel in Dorval.
